German Design Council Half Pipe

Make a piece whose only argument is craft — no product, no copy, nothing to hide behind.
A half pipe as a stage for material. Brushed metal, polished black, speckled stone and one red. Composition doing all the work.
Pure CGI. Every decision — reflection, falloff, contact shadow, the exact red — made in look development rather than in post.
Generative models produce this kind of image convincingly in seconds now. The difference is control: reflection behaviour, a specified material, a client's exact colour. When the answer only has to look good, generate it. When it has to be a particular thing, build it.
Look development, lighting and grading, finished for large-format print and exhibition display — one still from a set that also included campaign films and sound design.

What the approach changed.
Craft as the argument
A piece carried entirely by material and light.
Full control
Every surface specified rather than approximated.
Exhibited
Campaign films and 3D artworks shown at the guest exhibition, Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt.
